Considering the dynamics of the international economic environment, the permanent collaboration with the homologous fiscal and customs administrations, as well as with the profile international organizations and institutions is the pillar of international relations supported by ANAF. The main purpose of the international relations activity is the organization and facilitation of experience exchange and reciprocal transfer of the best practices in the field of fiscal and customs administration.
Concerning the involvement in the European decisional process and promotion of ideas and interests from national level, ANAF specialists actively participate in the programs carried out by the European Commission, respectively Customs 2020 and Fiscalis 2020. The actions performed under the umbrella of these programs contributes to fulfilling the strategy Europe 2020 for the intelligent, sustainable increase favourable to the inclusion by consolidating the internal market functioning, offering a framework for supporting the activities to increase the administrative capacity of fiscal authorities and encouraging the technical and innovation progress. Thus, the involvement in the actions of the programs performed by EU aims to identify the best methods to consolidate and improve the fiscal and customs administration, as well as the most recent tendencies from European level in order to fight against fraud and fiscal evasion.
At the same time, within the activities of international cooperation, our administration benefited a lot from experience exchange with external partners in order to support the internal reform process through the transfer of good practices. Thus, ANAF benefited in the last years from a great number of projects of twinning and technical assistance with financing from the European Union or World Bank, projects that contributed through the foreign experts present in Romania to ANAF consolidation and modernization. For the future, from the perspective of a young organization that went through an intense process of change, we wish to offer in our turn the technical assistance to the fiscal and customs administrations from neighbouring countries, in the progress of accession or development.
Also, the National Agency for Fiscal Administration managed to establish relations of reciprocal collaboration and assistance with the European fiscal administrations, both directly and in the context of Romanias participation in the Intra-European Organization of Fiscal Administrations (IOTA) and World Customs Organization (OMV).
ANAF objectives in the field of international cooperation for the next 4 years.
One of our objectives in this field consists in improving the international image by ensuring the more active presence of ANAF experts within the international organizations, in the relations with EU member states and in the decisional process carried out at the level of European institutions.
The focus of our efforts for improving the cooperation with other European fiscal and customs administrations is another objective that aims to fight against the phenomenon of fiscal and customs fraud.
